If you haven't already met me at your classroom, career center, or college fair, my name is John Caguin, and I am the Community Outreach Coordinator for National Holistic Institute. I am also a fourth generation massage therapist, and a second generation NHI graduate.

This page is designed for high school students and their parents or guardians as a one-stop shop for all things related to massage therapy. Below you will find videos, statistics, helpful links, and a step-by-step summary of how to have work you love as a massage therapist.

    • Massage Therapy is among California’s 50 fastest-growing occupations, with a projected growth of 25.6% between 2006-2016 - EDD Labor Market Info
    • Nationwide, employment for Massage Therapists is expected to increase by 19% from 2008-2018 - Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-2011 Edition

    • A total of 34% of adults say they had a massage in the past five years, compared with 17% in 1997.
    • The percentage of American adults receiving one or more massages from a massage therapist in 2009 (22%) nearly tripled since 1997 (8%).
    • Among people who had experienced severe back, neck or shoulder pain, the rate of use of massage therapy increased from 14.6% in 1996 to 19.4% in 1999.
