Description: This class will provide you with basic understanding of the Kinesthetic sense, how the Alexander Technique works with it, and how to apply it’s guidelines to your arms & shoulders, hands & wrists movements, while giving a massage. The focus will be on preventing unnecessary effort, stress, and tension, which interferes with maintaining ease & flow, balance & coordination. Class will include explanations, demonstrations, experiments, and practical applications to massage movement. Students will also be taught the lying down on the floor procedure for constructive rest, to be practiced daily at home. The goal of the class is to develop mind-body awareness and learn how to incorporate it in the daily and professional activities of the students according to their need and capability. This class is taught for personal development only and not as training to become a teacher or a practitioner of the Alexander Technique.
Student Notes: Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a paperback book and a towel to lie on. Bring questions and concerns regarding specific body movements or activities.
