After 14 years as a nationally certified massage therapist, I have just retired. Reflecting back, I have to say that my education and experience at NHI was life changing. It opened windows and doors and gave me a new career as I approached 50. The methodology of teaching was stimulating and productive. Though I hold a Master\'s Degree in Counseling, I found the educational experience at NHI to have been more enriching and rewarding.
I earned my national certification 2 months after graduation and went on to become the head therapist at a huge health & wellness center in the Chicagoland area. My business skills combined with my massage skills enabled me to grow the business from the ground up. What a wonderful combination.
I was a proud member of Group 10 and I believe we were the first to experience the 720 hour program. We wanted more.
While I understand that graduation from NHI was the first step, due to the preparation in so many, many areas, I was ready for work. I became interested in rehab work and took lots of CEU classes. I will miss all of it.
If you ever need an alum to be on a panel to help students get a picture of the work world of massage, please call on me. I'd love to help.
