Dear NHI,
I graduated in July of 2001, but the real life-changing event for me began the moment I walked into the door at NHI. My admissions counselor, Jim, made a dream that had seemed unreachable into a reality that I could touch and hold. And so began my voyage as a Massage Practitioner and Heath Educator.
When I began NHI I was working 40-hour weeks on an overnight shift for a dotcom retail store and searching for a place to live. My school career took me through the fall of the dotcom industry, and I found myself among the jobless mass of computer savvy customer service representatives struggling to hold on in the Bay Area. I was ready to give up on school and the whole Bay Area, but my instructors wouldn't hear of it. They encouraged me to continue, to not give up, to believe in my abilities as a gifted therapist and a talented business woman. The support I received from my group members was also catamount to my success, and I maintain contact with many of them even now. Only a few short months later, two months before graduation, I began working at a spa in downtown San Francisco, thanks to connections made through my experiences at NHI.
My vision as a Massage Practitioner has grown since I graduated, thanks to the solid foundation I developed from my education at NHI. My interests lie in Pregnancy Massage, Midwifery, and Nutrition, and I can use the training I received at NHI to further my education in any of these fields.
NHI is still assisting me as a Massage Practitioner in developing my career. I make use of the Continuing Education and the Job Listings to keep my mind and my practice fresh. The portfolio I developed at NHI always impresses prospective clients and employers. It's also a nice reminder of the accomplishments NHI has helped me to achieve.
NHI gave me the tools to build my career, and my lifestyle. The talent is all mine, and so is yours, this school will help you craft your life's masterpiece.
